Playing in the sprinklers 7/14/08
|
8/15/08 - Alot has happened in three months! I continue to say this, but the days are flying by, and I've obviously gotten caught up in it, hence the lack of journaling... The boys are 14 months old!! They had a wonderful birthday party. We had a big bash and the boys handled it all very well. I weaned the boys 1 day before their birthday, and it went really smoothly. They are both great sleepers, except for the occassional moments when they need additional hugs to get through the night, and they are great eaters. They continue to make us laugh, and there are definitely those moments when they do things that impress us so much that Jon and I have to look at each other and say "Did (that) just happen?" They are a ball of fun, and we are loving it all - even the trying times. They are teaching me daily, and they make me want to be a better person. Jack-Jack continues to be a charmer. He made googly eyes at some ladies at dinner this week. And then he flashes that smile! JJ has started asserting himself more these days and is getting more confident. He's wanting to walk and stand on his own. He loves to climb and feels like such a big boy when he gets to sit on the sofa. JJ is really good at entertaining himself with a toy. He can play with just one toy for quite awhile - especially his loud cranking car. :) Jack loves rice and black beans and goes "Ummm, ummm." He also loves music - rocking to the beat and bouncing while he stands are still some of his favorite moves. JJ says alot of words. Some of his most common words are Book, Clock (and he makes the tick-tock sounds,) and of course, Mama and Daaaa. He's also starting to point at things when we ask him, "Where's the...?" He LOVES his The Big Truck Book. Jon picked out this book, and Jack can't get enough. He'll open the pages and tap at a truck, wanting us to tell him what kind it is. I cannot tell you how many times I've turned to the truck book when things are getting a little hairy. I don't get it, but I don't have to. Vaughn is walking - not with 100% confidence, but he is gaining more daily. I was told by my cousin's wife that it happened overnight for her little girl - well, not exactly for V. He is still working on his balance but is definitely seeing the benefits of not crawling outside on his knees. V loves bananas. He also LOVES the sweet things in life, just like his Mama. He says a few words, but mainly grunts and points, and is understanding so much. He enjoys exploring whatever toy his brother has, loves to be pushed in his wagon, and wants to climb as high as he can. I have already had to move our outdoor chairs away from the table. He liked the view from on TOP of the table. Yikes!! He loves to use the wooden stacker - he's quite the pro. But more than anything, he loves his pacifiers. He can only have them in his bedroom. So, when he gets them, he has usually 4 or 5. One is his mouth and the rest in his hands. He loves to put one of the pacis as close to his eye as he can get. Ahhhhhhhhh! And, Vaughn has absolutely the best laugh and smiles all over!!! Jon and I are starting to do a little more on our own. Nana is kind enough to keep them twice a week while we go to Pilates. Jon's lost 25 pounds. It is such a great stress reducer. We love it! The boys also spent the night with Nana and Grandpa for the first time on the 4th of July. Jon, again, did an amazing fireworks "show" at the lake. Gets bigger each year. Definitely something the boys will love when they are much older. We also took our first trip away (three days, 2 nights) last week to NYC while Grama came from Oklahoma to stay with the boys. They all did great. Grama says she'd do it again, so I take that as a good sign. We are planning our biggest trip so far for Labor Day weekend. We are all going to Odessa and Carlsbad to see friends and family. I'm really anxious to see my dad. He hasn't met the boys yet. He hasn't been well. So, as we gear up for that, we've gotten the boys new front-facing car seats, and I need to get a kid movie. I couldn't believe that the only one we have is Enchanted. Ha!!! Well, the boys have slept extra long this morning and are now waking up. Later...hopefully not three months later.

My First Mother's Day 5/11/08 "WONDERFUL!"
|
5/14/08 - We have reached the 11 month mark! The boys are doing great. We're in a bit of a transitional phase as they start to eat more table foods, and I am nursing less. My hope is to have them weaned in the next couple of months. That also means getting them to sleep throughout the whole night. Vaughn still likes nursing around 3 a.m. - so we shall see... Vaughn ("VW" - prounced V-Doe per Daddy) continues to be on the go. He is my little explorer and approaches everything with wild abandon. The day before Mother's Day he began saying "Mama" to me and said "Dada" to Jon last night. Other than that, there's a lot of babbling - especially now that we are limiting his pacifier use. Vaughn continues to be the big eater and so, it's good that he has 4 teeth to help. He loves to feed himself and double fists it often. Imagine if you will, eight goldfish crackers. 4 for Jack, 4 for Vaughn? Nope. 3 in each of Vaughn's hand, one in his mouth, and one (maybe) left for Jack. He has the best smile - dimples and all. He loves to rock. In fact, his rocking got special notice in our Musikgarten class. He feels the rhythm and loves the beat. Jackson (Jack-Jack) is a cutie (he loves smiling at the ladies) and our talker. Nana calls him her storyteller. He has been saying "Mama" to Jon and me for a while now. He loves looking at books and turning the pages. He approaches everything with a little more caution but does try out all of big brother's moves. He, too, loves our Musikgarten class. You will find him clapping his hands or his finger cymbals to the beat. He actually claps alot when he's excited - when he sees Aunt Kathy, when he's getting fed, etc... Jack-Jack also has 4 teeth but has more food preferences than VW. Jack-Jack gives the best hugs!!

4/13/08 V and J with Daddy and his stang
|
April 18, 2008 - The boys are really growing!! They are now 10 months old, and I am starting to make plans for their first birthday party.
Alot has happened in the last two months, the boys now have their two bottom teeth and their top two teeth are coming soon. Probably accounts for our cranky week.
Jackson finally has begun to crawl - even though he still prefers his one arm army crawl. They both are pulling up on things, but Vaughn continues to be more inclined to experiment and take risks. He's taken quite a few tumbles!
We have a playroom that is gated, so we spend much of our day in there - playing, reading, and occasionally watching Little Einsteins. They really only like the beginning and ending - when the theme song plays. Jackson is likely to clap to the music, while Vaughn rocks back and forth.
They both love bathtime. I actually gave them their first bath together just last night. Otherwise, Jon normally bathes them in our big tub one at a time. They love to splash and play with their sea toys.
Jackson is also saying Mama. Music to my ears. He is definitely the more verbal of the two. And of course, they continue to be such a joy. Jon and I are so thankful.
We also FINALLY got to meet Bernadette (Birdy) and much of my mom's side of the family in Oklahoma last month. What fun it was to have so many little ones together. I am really looking forward to our reunion in June when we can all get together again.
|
February 28, 2008 - Jackson cut his first tooth today and is making some progress on crawling. He's at least able to inch towards the toys that he wants. Vaughn is pulling up on everything in site - now, if he can just figure out how to get down. We had a good week. Grama came for a visit and not only helped with the boys, but helped with our 3rd Annual Oscar Watching Party. The boys had such an active day, that they went down right as guests we arriving. They're such good boys.

8 months old - 2/13/08 Vaughn and Jackson
|
February 18, 2008 - The boys turned 8 months old on the 13th! Last month I talked a little about Vaughn's developments, so today I'll start with Jackson. He is soooo sweet. He has been sleeping through the nights so well - sometimes even for 12 hours straight. I love coming into the nursery in the mornings. He has the best smile and even winks his left eye a bit when he smiles. He enjoys tummy time and although he's starting to get on his knees and rock a bit, he prefers scooting around backwards on his tummy, sitting up and playing his drum, or jumping in the Rainforest Jumperoo that Grama got the boys for Christmas. I can still put him down and not worry about him leaving the room at this time - which is very nice since Vaughn is on the go! Update since last month - Vaughn is now truly crawling, starting to pull up, and cut a tooth two weeks ago. He is also learning to drink from a sippy cup and starting to feed himself. He attacks things with wild abandon. He's so funny. They both LOVE eating solids, and I never knew how much I would love spoon feeding them. It is such a highlight in the day. It's just so much fun. And, I think that it's because I can fully engage them both at the same time. They get up between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. usually, and nap for 1-2 hours atround 10 a.m. and then again around 2:30 p.m. Once they get up from their afternoon nap, then they are up until their 8 p.m. bedtime. It does get a little hairy some evenings, but luckily, Jon comes home ready to engage and play. He also comes home every day at lunch. It's so nice to see him during the day. I think the boys are so lucky to have so much Daddy time. He's a great father. Some days are hard for me and some days are such a breeze. I think that's probably very normal. I do love being able to be with them everyday. And, my weekly Wednesday outings are really wonderful for me. They renergize me and remind me how fortunate I am to get to be their mommy. I'm just so appreciative after these outings. Life is really good. Jon and I have started taking them out on Sunday afternoons. Although me getting out with them on my own is few and far between these days, i am seeing that it won't always be this way. So I remind myself not to wish any part of this away - it just goes too fast to do that!
|
January 15, 2008 - There is no doubt that my week by week details have now become month by month. Again, I am so amazed at how quickly time is flying. The boys are now 7 months old and keep Jon and I so busy. So much has happened since I last wrote, so I feel a tad overwhelmed even trying to share all the wonderful things that are going on in our lives. I cannot even begin to express how blessed Jon and I feel to have them. Life is sooooooo good right now. We just want to savor it all!!!!! I'll start with Vaugnn, being our oldest by a minute and all. He is so funny. He is into everything. And as Jon and I predicted, he is going to be the first to crawl. He is so close right now. Up on all fours and then lunges himself forward on to his belly. He hasn't quite figured it out but can move so fast that I'm getting a taste of what's to come - whew!!! Vaughn is fairly easy going - unless he's hungry. He's definitely enjoying eating by spoon and is even tolerating peas and green beans. He has a heartly laugh and is easy to make smile. Now that he's on the move, he likes to tackle Jackson and enjoys whatever toy Jackson has in his hands. It is so funny to see such differences in their personalities.

We're 5 months old
|
11/13/07 - Today the boys are 5 months old. Every day this week, I have reflected on the steps we took a year ago to have them. Such an amazing journey. They continue to brighten our world and are having so many "firsts" these days. Vaughn has started "talking" so much and let out such a hearty, full out laugh when I was tickling his belly that it made me cry. Such a delight! He has also started rolling from his tummy to his back. He is such an observer and a overall happy baby. Jackson is our mover. He loves to try and sit up and be walked around. He is the cutest thing first thing in the morning - all smiles. He has a favorite toy parrot that he loves to grasp and chew.Throughout the day, he begins groaning...not really upset initially, but by the end of the day - full out groans. He usually falls fast asleep at bedtime. Jon and I prepping their playroom. They are well on their way to crawling, so we want to be ready!

11/02/07 - For the boys' first Halloween, Jon and I hosted a get together at our house with our Wednesday Nights of the Round Table (a group of friends that go out to eat every Wednesday.) We had a blast!! And with Jon's special effects out front, we had more trick or treaters than ever. The boys tolerated their costumes just long enough to get a few photos. They were unbelievably patient with me as I got everything ready for the party. Check out more photos under Photo Albums.
|
11/02/07 - Back to their differences... Vaughn has just started giggling - still not a full out laugh. His first really good giggle happened on Monday, Oct.29th. I was just talking to him as a changed his diaper - he LOVES it when you talk to him. He smiles all over. He is really stout and strong and is good at "standing", lifting his head and pushing up on his elbows when he's on his belly. However, in his Bumbo - he tends to be a leaner. Jon and I think he will be the first to crawl. Vaughn also loves his pacifier and is an extrememly good eater. He still likes waking up in the middle of the night for a snack - or two.
|
October 18th - Amazing... a month has already passed. The boys were 4 months old on the 13th. Just yesterday at our check-up appointment, Jackson had his first laugh. The boys have just started taking note of one another. Jon and I had them in the room, just in their diapers, "standing" up, and Jackson looked at Vaughn - got so excited and LAUGHED - TWICE. It was really funny. Vaughn smiles all over, and just when you think a laugh should emerge - nothing... yet. I was just asked by a friend what differences we've noticed in the boys... Jackson is extremely vocal, he loves to coo, he can get really red and hot quick, and he is sitting up really well in his Bumbo to name just a few.

Sept. 13th - The boys are 3 months old today. Of course, we've had lots of FIRSTS over the last several weeks. We went on our first outing ALONE today. We went to ArtsView to visit Miss Judy and went to Tejas to visit Daddy and the rest of the Tejas gang. We did great. I think they are getting used to going out. AND, I'm feeling more comfortable about handling them, getting them in and out of the car.. For the past month or so, Jon and I have been taking them out every Wednesday night to our big dinner with friends. Luckily, everyone has been great about picking restaurants that are baby friendly. Now, to actually take them to a store or something...baby steps... I've gotten a stroller that I can lift and manuover fairly easily. Got to try it out while Beth and Daniel were here. We went on several walks and took the boys on their first picnic. Plus, I got to see Daniel - who is 1 1/2 and on the move. Got me thinking about making one of our front rooms a playroom! Everyone's been asking me about sleep - well, they are still waking up every 3 to 5 hours at night. However, Jackson had a record 6 hours a few nights ago. I can feel a full night of sleep getting closer...I just know it! Definitely ready for that first time that they sleep all night. They are starting to make eye contact and smile more. It's wonderful when you get an ear to ear grin...ahhhhhhh! Jon thinks a laugh is just around the corner. They also "saw" their first Texas game this past weekend. No pressure boys! They are also really working their bodies, trying to sit up - especially Jackson. My quiet one has become not so quiet over the last couple of weeks. Fun seeing their personalities starting to develop. Enjoying it all!!!!!!

Me and my boys - 08/30/07
Vaughn on left, Jackson on right
|
Sept. 1st - I haven't been very good about updating lately. Seems like time is just flying! The boys are doing great! And although they continue to gain weight, Jon and I still obsess over whether or not they are getting enough milk from me. We have started to supplement with formula on occassion - mainly when I am POOPED - but otherwise I cannot pry myself away from them - literally, :)
They are so sweet! Vaughn continues to be our dramatic one - from his very expressive facial expressions, to his hand movements, and even to his vocal ablities - he is a source of entertainment. As Aunt Steph says, "He makes me laugh!" I concur. Vaughn has begun losing his hair. We wonder if it will come back lighter. Also, we think he may be our brown eyed boy.
Jackson is our more serious, quiet one, and quite edible , I might add. He still seems so tiny - especially compared to Vaughn. He still rolls up into a ball when you hold him. And despite the occasional cross-eyed look, he's our "pretty boy." We sometimes see a hint of red hair and possibly blue eyes - only time will tell.

PHOTO SHOOT - July 12th
|
July 21st - The boys are almost 6 weeks old. They are doing really well and gaining weight. Since I have started to just nurse them strictly - no formula supplementation at this point - I wanted to make sure that they were gaining weight, so I broke down and bought a scale. As of yesterday, Vaughn weighs 7 pounds 8 ounces, and Jackson weighs 7 pounds. So, yes, they are on the right track.
Jon and I are enjoying them immensely and have started to see even more of their personalities. We are also hoping to be adventurous and get out with them soon. We have just been to doctor appointments and to Nana and Granpa's house so far.
|
July 13th - The boys are one month old and doing great. I'm still trying to figure out their schedule and luckily, have had an extra pair of hands at some point since we've been home - Grama, Nana, Aunt Steph, and Jon - to help me figure it all out!
|
July 4th - Jon and I take them on their first outing (other than doctor appointments) to Nana's and Grandpa's. The boys got to meet lots of family there - including aunts, uncles, and cousins - while Jon got an amazing fireworks show together. Unfortunately, we will just have to tell the boys all about it since they stayed safely alseep in the house.

Coming home!!
|
June 25th - The get to come home. The weeks in the hospital have been extrememly tough for me and Jon. It's been so hard seeing parents leave with their new babies. Fortunately, we've been able to stay at the hospital in a courtesy room even though I'd been discharged. Being that Jon and I try and make the 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m., 10 p.m., and 1 a.m. feedings - this has been so wonderful to be on site. I have felt like I'm not even in Longview - the hospital is this whole new world. My days revolve around getting to see the boys, pumping ALOT, sleeping in between feedings and eating - many times it being the cafeteria food. Jon and I will have many memories of heading to the cafeteria at 2 a.m. to eat with the night shift crew. Love that potato and cheese soup!
|
June 19th - It's my 35th birthday. I wear a new top and actually put on a little make up. The ArtsView ladies - Vickie, Sandi, Cece, Pamela, and Christina - pay me a visit bringing lunch, cake, candles and gifts. They even sing to me in the hospital cafeteria. The highlight for me, I show them the boys through the nursery window. I think we all had tears in our eyes. So memorable.
|
June 13th - SURPRISE!!! The boys arrive! Here's what went down... I went into the doctor's office because I'd had some issues around 2:30 a.m. - nothing big in my mind, but enough to feel like I should let Dr. B know. I called Jon's mom to see if she could take me in - I didn't even initially call Jon, but it worked out that he could break from work to take me in AND I AM SO GLAD HE DID! What we discovered was that I was 5 cm dialated and that Dr. B could feel Vaughn's bag bulging. She told us to go directly to the hospital. She wouldn't even let me go to the house to pick up a few things. Obviously, I hadn't even packed yet. :) They wheeled me out and Jon and I went to the ER and then, the fun began... Unfortunately, my timeline of the moments is a little skewed.
|
June 11th - Two more days and we will be at 33 weeks. I continue to hope that my body can carry the babies for at least 3 weeks - preferrably 5 weeks - more. At my appointment on Friday, I mentioned to my doctor that I had begun FEELING contractions. No, not severely painful, but just uncomfortable enough to mention. So, she decided to see what was going on. Turns out that I am dilated 1 cm and that she could actually feel Vaughn's head (or as Jon says, she shook hands with Vaughn)- so it's bed rest for me for the remainder of the pregnancy. And we had just begun our childbirthing classes - SHOOT! We go back to the doctor on Thursday, so I'll be updating soon. A big welcome to our newest addition to the family - Isabella Grace Godard - born on June 5th to my cousin Justin and his wife Jill!
|
June 2nd - Jon and I had our latest doctor appointment and sonogram yesterday. Vaughn and Jackson seem to be doing very well, weighing in at 4.2 pounds and 4.6 pounds respectively. THESE ARE BIG BABIES!!! It's also been amazing to see hints of their personality - even in the womb. Can't wait to find out if these indications hold true once they are born.
What we've seen so far is that Vaughn is very active, is always on the move, and works with us when it's photo time. Jackson is less active - more laid back. I hadn't even realized that he had turned from traverse and is now breech. He takes his time and isn't too concerned about photos. He is also the bigger of the two - so apparently good things come to those that wait.
Grama and Nana came with us to the sonogram. What a treat for all of us! However, now that belly room is definitely becoming more of an issue, our picture turnout wasn't so great. See what we did get under sonogram pics. We saw jumbled legs and arms - unable to decipher whose was whose, smashed faces or hands hiding faces, and even a rear shot of Vaughn when trying for Jackson's photo. By the way, Vaughn is still a boy.
Jon and I are growing more and more excited. We start our baby classes starting next week. Jon will even attend a "Daddy Boot Camp" next Saturday. I'm dying to know what the 5 S's are. By this point, Jon will be wrapping up the lighting for the opera - his last lighting project for a while per Jon. I reached my June 1st deadline to be completed with most of my ArtsView responsibilities and am now concentrating on getting the nursery complete and holding out on delivering until mid July - we shall see how that goes. I am BIG and being on my feet isn't an option, so my activities are very limited, but, luckily, I have great support to help us get through the last 4 to 6 weeks. All is very good!!!
|
May 30th - Congratulations to Stephnie and Bob! They have just announced that they are expecting a baby before the end of the year. This is such wonderful news, not only for them, but for our expanding family. Many times Steph and I have talked about having children and how wonderful it would be if our pregnancies could be close together. Too exciting how things are working out! Today marks 31 weeks of preganancy. I think I'm taking it all in stride. Jon may think differently. :) I am BIG, very BIG already, so although I tend to feel a little nervous about getting any bigger, I am extrememly fortunate to have lots of support (thank you Rose, Mom, Jon, and Lucia) to help me with daily things. I am sleeping and resting alot and staying off my feet - they aren't swollen, but they hurt when I am up on them. Mom is coming into town for our next sonogram appt on Friday. We are all excited to see Vaughn and Jackson's development!!!

An amazing baby shower
|
May 21st - What a wonderful baby shower Jon and I were given this past Saturday! Many, many thanks to Claudine, Sandi, Vickie, and Judith for a shower filled with special and amazing details (rabbits made out of receiving blankets, snails and turtles made from washclothes), delicious cake, punch and wraps, decorations that were so overwhelming that I cried, but most importantly great friends and family! I cannot tell you enough how we will treasure these memories for a lifetime! THANK YOU! Check out the photo album page for some of our ARTSVIEW BABY SHOWER photos.

Baby Shower Pic
|
May 16th - Well, it's the 29th week. I am still hanging in there. Yes, a little tired, which as it gets hotter outside, seems to make more of an impact. I got a very good report from the doctor today and was able to see the boys briefly - just enough to see their heartbeats and to see them moving around! We will have a more complete sonogram June 1st. This past weekend was the Godard Family Reunion in Oklahoma. This was my last trip that we had planned, so I was very thankful that it went off without a hitch. It was so wonderful seeing everyone. We had a great turnout!!! Plus, Steph and Mom put together a beautiful baby shower for us. Jon and I got so many nice things. This week I washed all the baby clothes we received, and as I was folding them, I had this rush - just realizing how quickly the boys will be wearing them. It is very exciting and scary all at the same time. I still have things I want to do to prepare. I'm hoping to have those pretty much completed by June 1st, so that I can really take it easy the last 6 weeks. We will see... Oh, and an update...the names... well, right now they are Jackson James Wright (Twin B) and Vaughn William Wright (Twin A).
|
May 1st - Tomorrow marks 27 weeks. Our hope is that I make it to at least 36 weeks - but after talking to our doctor, lung development in white males seems to take a little longer to develop, so 38 weeks would be even better. That means a mid July deliver. Our options for delivery came up, as well. We - including our doctor - are leaning toward a C-section for various reasons, but I still love the idea of trying to go natural. We will just have to see how things progress. Well, things at home have been BUSY. Jon has survived the new floor installation, work , AND the ballet with just a slight rash on his hands and wrists. We think he may have been just a tad stressed out. I, on the other hand, retreated to my mom's this past week, got to sleep alot (THANKS MOM AND ED FOR SUCH A RELAXING, COMFY ENVIRONMENT - Sorry, Jon) see their goats, and visit with my niece and nephew -Jordan and Taylor. But, now that I'm home and the floors are done, it's time to move on to room arrangement and nursery plans. Jon and I plan to go to Dallas this weekend - (we're going to see WICKED) and want to find a Babies R US to get some final ideas on things we might need. Things are good!!!! Check out new pics under photo albums- the goats are great!

25 1/2 weeks
|
Week 25 1/2 - Saturday, April 21 - It's been a couple of weeks since I've updated. Jon and I have both been very busy. I've been feeling really good with lots of energy, so I'm trying to get lots done. And, my blood pressure has been normal - thank goodness. Jon's not only busy with work and house projects, but he is in the midst of hanging and designing lights for our local ballet theatre. How does he do it all ? We are really excited at the thought of only having just 2 1/2 months to go before the boys arrive. No, we don't have names, yet. But, we're working on it! :) At this point, the boys are approximately 2 pounds each and are around 13 - 14 inches long. It's really amazing to us to think that they are in my belly. There are some days that I am just in awe of this every changing body and the sensation of them moving around is incredible. Our next sonogram is on April 30th, so we are anxious to see how they've changed since our last visit. On another note, I just want to thank Steph for getting shower details together for our upcoming family reunion on May 12th and many thanks to Sandi for planning and organizing a shower here in Longview on May 19th. THANK YOU!!!! That is so very thoughtful of you both. Jon and I appreciate it tremendously and look forward to seeing everybody.
|
Week 23 - It's now early April, and we think we have at least 3 months to go. We are shooting for a delivery date after the beginning of July. I am reminded that I still have 3 months to take really good care of all of us! This week my doctor threatened bed rest because my blood pressure was high. I think that we have everything under control now, but again, I am reminded to take it easy and to listen to my body. It's hard not to listen now that I have gained 25 pounds, am moving a lot slower, and feel like the boys have taken over. They're the boss - for now! :) Jon's doing well. He continues to get things prepared for babies. This month we have several house projects underway - including new flooring, a garage sale and rearranging of rooms and furniture. MAKE ROOM FOR BABIES!

Week 22
|
Week 22 - Things contunue to go smoothly. Jon and I both are feeling good as we prepare for babies. Jon just ordered our new flooring today, and Rose Mary (Nana), Aunt Kathy, and I went to pick out the material for the boys' quilts that Nana will be making. The colors are blues and tans , stripes, solids, and a few stars - a very simple block pattern that I just love. STAR WARS will just have to come later. Jon has decided that playing the STAR WARS music for them will do until they're older. I continue to love food, and it shows with my ever growing belly. I'm starting to get a little more uncomfortable and not sleeping as well. I guess that's to be expected. Next week, we will go in for another sonogram - oh, and I am definitely feeling the boys move. I had my biggest bump today while riding with Nana. We are all so excited!

20 Weeks
|
Week 20 - Jon and I loved having Grama and Auntie SteFunny this past weekend for a visit. I enjoyed just spending time together and catching up, but I couldn't resist taking them to various baby/ maternity stores to peruse the goodies. Lots of fun. They even tried helping me find more clothes that fit - since I basically have 4 outfits that I wear over and over. I look at it this way - It really makes getting dressed easy these days. And I figure, these soon won't fit, and I'll have to find new ones out of neccessity. Jon's been a little under the weather, but I have really been feeling great. I have felt a few unusual rumblings in my belly, but nothing consistent enough to assure me that I am feeling the boys move. We'll go back in two weeks for another sonogram, so we're really looking forward to seeing any new developments.

19 weeks

ME - It is now week 19, and I contine to feel great. In the last three weeks, I've gained 10 pounds, which is quite a relief since we know there are two babies in there. We got a great report from the doctor yesterday. The babies seem to be developing quite nicely. We joked with the sonographer about Twin A's head being quite a bit larger that Twin B's - nothing abnormal or serious or anything. I told her that big heads actually run in my family. Have you seen the size of my and my brother Billy's head? :) We'll go back in 4 weeks and at that point they look at more anatomy specifics. But for now, heartbeats look good, they appear to be snuggling, and they are definitely BOYS! Check out our new photos under We are having...
JON - I continue to grow more proud of my hubby daily. He makes a point to tell his ever-growing wife how beautiful she is, sings and talks to her belly daily, and continues to pamper, pamper, pamper! He is also getting our various house projects going - all to be completed before babies arrive. We both know how special this time is and are enjoying every moment.
THE BOYS - They are ready to know their names - Twin A and Twin B is a little impersonal. Well, Mommy and Daddy are still working on it. We appreciate all the input. In fact, an 8 year old gave us a list, covered front and back, three and four names to each line...she doesn't seem to understand what they problem is! There are plenty of names we could choose.

Belly shot #2 - 16 1/2 weeks

ME - It's week 17, and I am feeling wonderful!! I was beginning to think that I might never feel quite like myself again. I am also showing more, and it's very exciting, but it is a little strange to see my reflection in the mirror. I have started buying clothes that actually fit rather than trying to wear my jeans and feel squished.
JON - I also have a very happy husband these days. Jon's glad to see me up and doing again. As am I! We are also talking about boy names and the way we want to decorate the nursery. Looks like we may have a STAR WARS theme.
THE BOYS - They are hungry! And, they like meat. I am not a huge meateater regularly, but I have really been craving meat. And food tastes divine! I guess I am making up for the previous months. They are moving quite a lot (based on our sonogram,) but I haven't felt them yet. That should happen within the next couples of weeks.

How Momma's feeling: Now that I am 16 weeks, I have been feeling a lot better. Since early December I have really struggled with morning sickness and just have not felt well at all. I guess that happens when you have two babies developing all their major organs in such a short period of time. You just hang on!
How Daddy's feeling: Talk about hanging on... Jon has done a fabulous job of adjusting to the pregnancy. If I am hungry, he feeds me. If I am moody, he indulges me. If I am feeling miserable, he lets me be. If I feel good, he's ready to take part - even taking time off from work! And he always loves me, thank goodness! But, to find out how he's really feeling, be sure and ask him...

Here's the twins' development at this point: 16 weeks At around 4 inches long, crown to rump, your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 ounces. He's busy inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which will help develop the air sacs in his lungs. His legs are growing longer than his arms now, and he can move all his joints and limbs. That means his hands are more functional, too. Sweat glands are appearing, and although his eyelids are fused shut, he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, he's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but his taste buds are beginning to form. And if you have an ultrasound you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or girl!
